Our paper "Designing Unreinforced Masonry Models", together with our colleagues from the Interactive Geometry Lab at ETH Zurich, Prof. Olga Sorkine-Hornung and Dr. Daniele Panozzo, got accepted to ACM SIGGRAPH 2013, the prime venue for the top research in computer graphics.

Prof.dr.ir. Theo Salet was apppointed in the Department of Built Environment, chair of Structural Design - Concrete Structures, at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) and will deliver his inaugural lecture on 19 April 2013. The lecture is preceded by the minisymposium "Challenging concrete". Diederik Veenendaal will give a lecture, "Form, forces and fabrication", giving an overview of the work at the BLOCK Research Group and his own PhD research.

Our paper “Rethinking Structural Masonry: Unreinforced, Stone-cut Shellsâ€, invited by Prof. Remo Pedreschi to the Special Issue of the Proceedings of the ICE – Construction Materials, "Architectural approaches to materials", which details the development of the structurally-informed, fabrication-optimized digital design process of the MLK Jr. Vault in Austin, TX, has been published!

Prof. Block has been invited by Prof. Paulo Lourenço to present his research and work to the Masonry and Historical Constructions Group at the University of Minho, Guimarães, Portugal. His lecture “New Masonry Shells: Learning from the Gothic Master Builders†on Monday April 8 will give an overview of the design and analysis approaches for unreinforced masonry vaulted structures developed by the BLOCK Research Group.
