Graphic statics can be used to solve both the global and the local equilibrium of a structure.
Use the slider to go through the construction: 1) both the geometry and the load are constrained; 2) constructing the loadline and labelling the spaces; 3-6) finding the reaction forces, using a trial funicular polygon; 7) completing the force diagram; 8-9) distributing the reaction forces into the supports; 10) identifying the internal forces in the truss members graphically.
Move the handles of the geometry and the load and observe the implications on the magnitude and direction of the reaction forces and internal forces.
