Form finding of Nervi's Airport Hangars

Understand the loadbearing behaviour of Nervi's Airport Hangars both under their own weight and a moving external load respectively.

Use the slider to follow the construction: 1-3) constructing the parabolic shape for a uniformly distributed load; 4-5) constructing the catenary corresponding to the actual weight of the structure; 6-7) constructing the load line and the thrust line for a combined load case of the self-weight and a moving point load.
Note the slight deviation of the catenary from the parabolic centreline of the structure. It is, however, fully contained within the geometry of the structure.
Use the sliders to change the location and size of the point load.
