Description
The shape of the truss is found graphically by specifying symmetrical member forces in the top/ bottom chord. It is designed for the dominant load case of a uniformly distributed load. In mode 0, use the sliders factorQ/ positionQ to add a point load/ move the point load along the span of the truss and see what happens. In mode 1, use the slider to illustrate the construction steps: 1) specifying the supports and a third point for the truss to pass through and constructing the load line; 2-3) determining the resultant and, by means of a trial funicular construction, finding the reaction forces; 4) solving the first node due to symmetry; 5-7) solving the subsequent nodes and completing the force diagram; 8) adding the diagonals.
