The paper explores iterative search methods for form finding discrete funicular structures under constraints imposed due to requirements of curved-crease folded (CCF) moulds. It describes the use of the ‘variational’ approach to extend the Force Density Method as developed in [1]. The paper integrates the two-step form-finding process described in [2], into a unified procedure and thus overcomes the design difficulties described there. As noted in [2], there is a general compatibility between compressive structures and CCF moulds. However, there is also an inherent negotiation between the local curvatures of the equilibrium shape and the cross-sectional depth of the mould so formed. The unified approach of this paper will demonstrate a method to ensure both requirements – equilibrium and sectional depth - are met.  Integration of fabrication constraints in form finding of shapes in static equilibrium is noted in [1]. Additionally, iterative, projection methods of optimisation for use in interactive design of meshes are described in [3]. The discrete representation of curved-crease foldable meshes and the general benefits of their architectural application is discussed in [4]. This paper then, describes an easy to implement, search optimisation method that is compatible with interactive shape modelling and satisfies specific static equilibrium and mould-making constraints.
