Yasaman Yavaribajestani

Yasaman is an academic guest at the Block Research Group and a PhD candidate at the University of California Berkeley. She received her Master of Architecture (M.Arch) from UC Berkeley with the final project “Bio-inspired Lamellar Structures: Studio One Research Pavilion 2018”. After graduation, she received her Master of Civil Engineering in Structural Engineering, Mechanics and Materials (SEMM) also from UC Berkeley with research focusing on hybrid gridshell construction with bending-active formworks.

Yasaman's interdisciplinary research seeks to build dynamic links between architecture and structural engineering. She focuses on developing new, efficient and sustainable methods for the construction of concrete gridshell structures that sync architectural, structural, and construction elements from the early stages of the design with a primary interest in using flexible formworks for the construction of concrete gridshells.
