Pedro Tosatto Siedel

Pedro is an architect with a strong interest in structural and material optimization through graphic statics. He concluded his Master in Architecture at ETH in 2022. In his design projects during his studies, Pedro focused in optimizing and reducing the use of material by analysing and understanding the chosen structure using the methods of graphic statics. In his master thesis called “Materialreduktion durch tensile Elemente” (engl.: material reduction using tensile elements), which was supervised by the chair of Andrea Deplazes, Pedro did an extensive research on the field of prefabricated steel and how beams and facade profiles can be pretensioned, in order to reduce the sectional area of the used profiles.

Pedro was a student teaching assistant for the BRG from 2018 to 2022 and for the chair of Structural Design of Prof. Dr. Joseph Schwartz from 2021 to 2022. During this time Pedro enhanced his own knowledge on structural design and graphic statics and was able to develop a very responsible way of teaching - a way that has always been appreciated by all students and colleagues of the BRG. In his current role as teaching coordinator, he has key responsibilities in the semester buildup of the first-year course Structural Design I & II and the supervision of the chair’s student teaching assistants.
