Lluis Enrique Monzo graduated with a diploma in architecture from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) in 2008 and received his Master’s degree in Architecture, Design Research Laboratory, from the Architectural Association School of Architecture (AA) in 2011.
That same year his Master’s thesis “Cast on Cast parametrization system and fabrication method” was awarded the 1st prize in the Holcim Awards for sustainable construction in the “Next Generation” category. In 2011 he also obtained the La Caixa fellowship to continue his research at the Chair of Structural Design at the ETH Zürich, where he completed his PhD in 2018.
Lluis' research explores the Nested Geometries, the Cast-on-Cast fabrication system and their potential to be applied as a post-tension structural system of non-standard, pre-cast concrete panels for the building of free-form structural surfaces.
Lluis joined the BRG as head of teaching in autumn 2018.
