Dr. Cristián Calvo Barentin

Cristián Calvo Barentin studied architecture at the Technical University Federico Santa María of Valparaíso, Chile, where he received his diploma in 2008. After gaining professional experience as an independent architect, he co–founded an electronic development firma, where he worked as an interaction designer.

His passion for R&D brought him back to the Technical University Federico Santa María in 2012. As a teaching and research assistant for the last three years, Cristián worked in the introduction of industrial robot arms in an advanced architectural design studio for the first time in a South American architecture school. He also created innovative active-learning experiences for architectural computing courses, using Arduino electronics prototyping platform.

His research interests focuses on the development of digitally driven prefabrication systems, mass customization, physical computing, digital fabrication and parametric design.
