Claudio Nägeli is a civil engineering student at ETH Zurich. He joins the Block Research Group from February to June 2015 to write his Master Thesis. His research focuses on the application of the Maxwell Theorem combined with graphic statics for structural optimization. He decided to write his Master Thesis in the department of architecture because of his passion for intelligent formfinding based on statical rules with the aim to minimize the need of material. Another emphesis of his work is to enhence the collaboration between structural engineers and architects. He believes that an outstanding building can only be convincing if its holistic design is already regarded at an early stage of the project.
In his leisure time he plays waterpolo and in winter he’s a snowboard teacher at school camps.
